Zencart Ajax Checkout

In our continuous effort to help shop owners convert more leads into sale by improving customers’ shopping experience, we have developed the brand new ZenCart Ajax Checkout. Eliminating the need for multiple steps and required registration, One-Page Checkout will dramatically increase the number of completed purchases. Ajax checkout’s ultimate goal is to:

  1. Allowing customers to complete the checkout process on a single page (Similar to Fast And Easy checkout module)
  2. Presenting the least information at a time. We don’t want to scare the customers and drive them away by presenting too much information to fill in at once.
  3. Coming soon: Allowing the customers to checkout without creating an account (Similar to checkout without account module)

This module will be released as an open-source commercial module. A free version with limited features will also be published!

We are looking for volunteer testers, you will have access to the demo and get FREE copy of the code to try on your test sites, you will also get huge discount once the official module is released. Please use the newsletter subscribe form below to join us!

Jan 11: Screencast is now available.
Jan 12: updated demo

More minor bugs will be fixed until a public demo is released

To do:

  1. Rewrite zencart default form validation script to make it nicer. (done)
  2. Add support for checkout without account.(done)
  3. Check Paypal IPN (done)
  4. Check Paypal Express(done)
  5. Add Express checkout: allows users to set preferred shipping address, shipping method, payment address and skip those steps in later purchases.

Known issue: if customer goes to Paypal (IPN), then cancel the order, they will be back to the normal checkout payment page. We are considering if this is a desired bahavior, or if we should redirect them back to Express Checkout page.(sorted out)

This module is now officially named Zencart OnePage Checkout, codename xcheckout

To all: demo link will be sent to you when you via our newsletter. We will also publish the demo link here soon after we sort out all the errors reported.
And thanks to Rob who helped me to check the bug of Firefox 3 Mac OSX

We are also working a special bonus for this package: a very nice shopping cart page which your customers can get to see the cross-sell /up-sell products, as well as entering gift card and coupon code directly from there.

I’m happy to announce that this module is almost completed, we still need a bit checking on Paypal and Paypal Express first, then the free version will be released. The free version will not have:
    1. The progress bar on the right
    2. Support for “checkout without account”
    3. Express Checkout mode

Express checkout cuts the checkout steps dramatically. If customer chooses Express Checkout then the default shipping/payment address and shipping method will be used, customers will have to choose the payment method and confirm, that’s it.

Hi, I have just signed up to the newsletter. I can’t wait to test this out. Do you have an idea of how much the full version will cost?

We will try to keep the price as reasonable as possible. You will see the live version of xpress checkout within next week. We will soon launch our ZC Commercial Template site within next week and this system will be used on the site.

We will also send out discount coupons to all newsletter subscribers as well, so make sure you are on the list.

This blog is not the place to post for support question. Please use our support forum for this purpose.

With that said, your site is missing xcheckout.css, I think you did not rename the YOUR_TEMPLATE folder as instructed.

    Hi,

How does this interact with regard to PCI compliance requirements?

If the “Checkout” is happening through your AJAX module, does this mean I must have the ability to process and store CC transactions myself

    - or is there a way to use your AJAX solution with a HOSTED payment gateway?

    Thanks kindly!

Trevor, a very valid concern indeed. Here is how it is working now:
you will get transported to the 3rd party site if needed to, for example Paypal IPN, then you will just be redirected back to the checkout success page.
